Die Menschen nennen mein Leben kostspielig,

und sie haben recht, das ist es auch.

Gott sagt, mein Leben ist wertvoll,

und ER hat recht, das ist es auch.

Die Menschen nennen mich unproduktiv,

und sie haben recht, das bin ich auch.

Gott sagt, ich bin ein Brückenbauer

zwischen Behinderten und Nichtbehinderten,

und ER hat recht, das bin ich auch.

Die Menschen nennen mein Aussehen abstoßend,

und sie haben recht, das ist es auch.

Gott sagt, mein Lachen ist schön,

und ER hat recht, das ist es auch.

A magnificent creation

People call me impeded,

and they are right, that’s what I am.

God calls me his magnificent creation –

and HE is right, that’s what I am.

People call my life expensive,

and they are right, that’s what it is.

God says, my life is precious –

and HE is right, that’s what it is.

People call me unproductive,

and they are right, that’s what I am.

God says, I’m building bridges

between handicapped and non-handicapped persons –

and HE is right, that’s what I do.

People call my outward appearance repulsive,

and they are right, that’s what it is.

God says, my smile is beautiful –

and HE is right, that’s what it is.
